What is eSIM?

An eSIM, or electronic SIM card, is a digital data file that can be downloaded to mobile devices via the Internet. It enables various electronic products to connect to the Internet, make and receive calls, and send text messages, functioning just like a traditional SIM card. Any device with mobile network access can use an eSIM, provided the hardware supports it. The eSIM solution integrated into hardware or mobile phones currently occupies only one-third of the space of a Nano SIM card and is expected to become even smaller in the future.

eSIM Pros and Cons:

Advantages:

  • No need to insert or remove a physical card; simply set it up on the device to switch eSIMs.
  • eSIM does not require a card slot, saving device space and enabling the design of thinner and lighter devices.

    Disadvantages:

    • Currently, eSIM support is mainly limited to iPhone, Google Pixel devices and some other brand's newer model. Some older mobile phones may not be compatible.

Check whether the mobile phone supports eSIM

Dial *#06# directly on your mobile phone. If the EID barcode appears on the screen, it means your device supports eSIM. If the EID does not appear, it means your device does not support eSIM. However, it is best to double-check the device's specifications for confirmation.

Alternatively, scan the DUMMY QR code below with your device camera to see if your device can recognize it as an eSIM. If your device detects the dummy eSIM, then your device should supports eSIM, but you still need to ensure your device is unlocked and free from network restrictions.
